Ancey, C. M. F. 1882a. Coquilles de Chine Centrale nouvelles ou peu connues. Le Naturaliste. 2, 1e Serie, 4e Annee (6). pp.44-45 [45] [Original Description] [Type Designation]
Current name: Zua davidia Ancey, 1882
Classification: Gastropoda : Cochlicopoidea : Cochlicopidae
Type Status: Syntype(s) (possible) [Unverified ]
Collection: Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales, Cardiff (Melvill-Tomlin)
Catalogue No.: NMW.1955.158.24220
No. specimens: 2 sh (Dry)
Type Locality: Tsin-ling méridional, aux environs d’Inkiapo (‘Chine Centrale’ in the title) [A. David] [Central China]
Collecting details: "A. David"; P. Geret
Possible Syntypes:- RBINS.10591 1 spec. Remarks: Ancey (1883d: 269) later misspells the species as Z. davidis. Type evidence: The RBINS specimen has both Geret and Ancey labels bearing the type locality, but they do not state it is a type. There is also an A. David label. The NMW lot only has a Geret label, but the Geret sales list indicates that two specimens were sold to Tomlin from Ancey’s collection, so we can assume this lot is Ancey’s.
