Notes
Melvill & Standen, 1914 do not indicate that they based their original description on one specimen. Both Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008 listed this specimen as a holotype; in accordance with ICZN Art. 74.6 this is an indirect lectotype selection by inference of holotype (Trew, 1987: 27). The specimen measures the same as the measurements given in the original description, has 'type' written on it by Melvill and is from the type locality. There is no indication on the specimen label that this is the figured material but the specimen has a good liking to the illustrations and given that it is the only type specimen known it is all likelihood the figured specimen. In pencil, someone (perhaps Peter Dance?) has written 'lectotype' on the box label. This species was named in honour of Mr. Robert Blake, Chairman of the Directors of the Falkland Island Company, on the request of Rupert Vallentin.
