Notes
The locality and collector information has been inferred from the paper as there is no information present with the specimen. Although Melvill & Standen, 1896 write "A highly interesting shell..." this is not clear evidence that only one shell was used for the description as the term 'shell' is often synonymous with 'species'. Both Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008 listed this specimen as a holotype; in accordance with ICZN Art. 74.6 this is an indirect lectotype selection by inference of holotype (Trew, 1987: 27). There is evidence on the label that it is the figured specimen and it has a good likeness to the illustration.
