Notes
There is no indication in Melvill & Standen, 1898 that the original description was based on a single specimen so this specimen must be considered a syntype. The specimen has clearly been labelled 'type' (both on the label and in pencil on both valves), it is from the general type locality and is ex. Cobb. It has been listed as a syntype by both Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008, although they have suggested that it is the figured specimen. There is no indication on the specimen label that this is the figured material (as there is with other Manchester Museum material), although it does have quite a good likeness to the original figure. Other type material listed in Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008: 4 x syntypes EE.7757 1 x syntype USNM 708895
