Notes
Melvill & Standen, 1895: We have much pleasure in connecting with this species the name of Mr. John Ray Hardy, of the Manchester Museum, Owens College, who has rendered us much assistance in the sorting and investigation of this Lifu collection of shells. The locality and collector information has been inferred from the paper as there is no information present with the specimen. The description indicates that material was found in both Lifu and Uvea. There is no indication in Melvill & Standen, 1895 that the original description was based on a single specimen so this specimen must be considered a syntype. It has been listed as such by both Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008, although they have suggested that it is the figured specimen. There is no indication on the specimen label that this is the figured material (as there is with other Manchester Museum material) and comparison to the original figure is not conclusive. Other type material listed in Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008: 9 syntypes NMW.1955.158.01109 21 possible syntypes Bolton Museum 28 syntypes EE.7780 39 possible syntypes EE.7781 9 possible syntypes EE.8067 2 possible syntypes EE.8085.2
