Notes
The locality and collector information has been inferred from the paper as there is no information present with the specimen. Although Melvill & Standen, 1896 refer to "our many specimens" in their original description they also infer a holotype when writing "The specimen in most perfect condition, which is therefore taken as the type, is not so attenuately long as some others". This specimen should therefore be considered the holotype and has evidence on the label of being the figured specimen. Both Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008 have listed it as a figured syntype. Other types listed in Trew, 1987 and McGhie, 2008: 7 syntypes NHM-UK 1897.1.22.84-90 [should be considered paratypes] 69 syntypes EE.7805 [should be considered paratypes] 105 possible syntypes EE.7806 [should be considered possible paratypes] 36 possible syntypes EE.8095 [should be considered possible paratypes] 69 possible syntypes EE.8096 [should be considered possible paratypes]
