Notes
Harasewych et al. 2007 state that the original description did not specify the number of specimens examined but included a reference to a subsequently published figure of a single specimen. The 1060 specimens mentioned in the intended description (Maynard & Clapp in Maynard, 1920) are classed as part of the type series. They go on to designate a lectotype lot from MCZ (MCZ_76049) (this specimen is incorrectly listed as a neotype on the Smithsonian webpage). They to state that specimens MCZ 357001, MCZ 76050, MCZ 118190, and USNM 420056, can be considered paralectotypes Leeds material are ex. Crowley collection, and the Leeds database states that they are ex Maynard. Label states that they are ex. Salisbury collection, which contains Maynard types. There is an original label from Tomlin stating that the specimens are paratypes, Crowley's label also states that they are paratypes. It is from the type locality. The species name on the labels is spelt inornatum.
