Notes
Harasewych et al. 2007 state that the name was first published as a nomen nudum in Maynard, 1924? [undated] 'Catalogue of specimens of the family Cerionidae for sale by Charles J. Maynard containing many new species.' West Newton, Massachusetts: published privately. 8 unnumbered pp. (for comments see that publication, p. 516). Lectotype designated in Harasewych et al. 2007: The original description did not distinguish among the 1000 specimens examined. Harasewych et al. 2007 state that Maynard did not base his description on one specimen, and therefore that all material examined can be classed as part of the type series (1000 specimens in total). They go on to designate a lectotype lot from MCZ (MCZ 76109). They state that all of the other specimens can be considered paralectotypes including MCZ 76110, USNM 420061, and now also the Leeds specimen. Leeds material does not have a Maynard label, but the Leeds database states that this specimen is ex. Maynard and from the Crowley collection. It is ex. Liverpool, where some of Maynard's material went.
