Notes
Much of Maynard's type material went to MCZ, and they have a holotype specimen imaged on their webpage (MCZ 076079). Harasewych et al. 2007 states: The original description provided measurements for a single 'type' specimen, the holotype, which was illustrated. Lot number MCZ 76079 contains a single specimen labelled 'Holotype'...and contains Maynard's original label annotated 'type'. This specimen is here recognised as the Holotype. Lot number USNM 419983 contains 100 paratypes. How many of the remaining 1,899 specimens are paratypes is uncertain. Leeds material does not have a Maynard label, but the Leeds database states it is ex Maynard, and is ex. Liverpool, where some of Maynard's material went. There is a more modern label stating paratype and it is from the type locality.
