Specimen matches fig. 164 in Thesaurus Conchyliorum, although the shell has faded Label in Marrat's writing 'Oliva keenii, Marrat Moluccas'; although published locality is Fiji Islands. Label in Marrat's writing 'Shell figured 164'. Label in Tomlin's writing 'Type of keeni M. = elegans Lam.'. Ford 1953 first mention of Holotype.
